SEATTLE – January 28, 2020 – Traction Guest, a global leader in enterprise visitor management systems (VMS) and employee safety tools, today announced Maris Berzins has been appointed vice president of Engineering. Berzins is a veteran software engineering and product management executive with deep expertise in delivering products and services to millions of users worldwide. At Traction Guest, Berzins will drive the ongoing development of the company’s workforce security platform, bringing his deep experience in guiding engineering organizations in fast-paced product development. He will also play an integral role in expanding the company’s roadmap to address today’s hybrid workplace and meet the evolving security demands of global customers.
Prior to joining Traction Guest, Berzins led engineering for Starbucks’ loyalty and mobile ordering commerce platform. At global enterprise software company Agilysys Berzins served as the VP of Product Engineering, responsible for driving next generation products that integrated SaaS with hardware for consumer and employee interactions. Previous roles include a decade-long tenure at Microsoft, where Berzins oversaw the delivery of multiple software products and web services to millions of Microsoft customers around the globe. Most recently, he was the vice president of Engineering for Nav.
“Maris has the leadership prowess and track record of driving innovation to take our platform to the next level to help enterprises navigate evolving workforce safety and security requirements. He’ll take the helm building out our world-class engineering team to deliver cutting edge solutions to our customers worldwide,” said Cameron Wiebe, CTO of Traction Guest. “The COVID-19 pandemic will have a lasting impact on how employers protect workers and meet legal duty of care requirements. Traction Guest technology is the bridge to the safe, secure hybrid workplace of the future.”
Berzins joins the Traction Guest team at a time when demand for workforce security solutions, including enterprise employee and visitor management systems, is accelerating. Driven by the pandemic, there is tremendous pressure on businesses to provide safe, secure work environments. The 2020 Return-to-Work During the COVID-19 Pandemic Study by Traction Guest found that over half (51.8%) of employees feel that employee and visitor check-in/out systems would make them feel more confident about returning to the workplace amid COVID-19. Moreover, one third of employees reported they will explore new jobs or resign if their employer fails to create a safe in-office work environment during the pandemic.
“Traction Guest has been innovating faster than anyone else in this space. I’ve devoted much of my career to building enterprise-grade solutions, and I’m excited to bring my knowledge and experience to continue the rapid evolution of the Traction Guest platform,” said Berzins. “Technology has never been more important to securing the workforce and corporate assets. Traction Guest is playing a leading role in defining the market, shaping the future of employee safety and security so companies can flourish.”
Traction Guest’s workforce security platform is highly customizable to meet the needs of complex enterprise-grade facilities, location-specific criteria and a globally distributed workforce. The platform scales infinitely and can be configured to manage granular levels of security from a single, centralized system. Recent Traction Guest product enhancements include:
- Vaccine Attestation Registry that enables businesses to track vaccination records – paper or digital – and incorporate these and other health attestations including COVID-19 test results into their screening for onsite reentry processes.
- Return-to-Work Solution that simplifies the reopening process and bridges a critical blindspot in many corporate return-to-work programs by helping employers meet increasingly complex legal duty of care responsibilities born out of the COVID-19 pandemic.
